Hello everyone

I'm new to this forum and really enjoy PS. Being an old time PTO fan back in the day, I was most surprised by how much more emersive PS is by comparison.

I like all aspects of PS. Right from building, loading, moving, deploying, engaging and now with PS first person shooting. Something about flying the Dive Bomber down onto a ship and lobbing a 500lb bomb at it after I built it. I can actualy fly the plane that I build.. so kewl..

So as you can tell I do most everything hands on. No automation for me at all. The logistics involved is just the kind of thing that makes that vein pulse in my head.. LOL

So as im doing all this stuff I took a carrier group to a battle and did fairly well.. after the battle, I took the CG back to Hawaii and did the reinforce for lost planes and did an ammunition load. I then took out the group again and noticed that 1/2 of my F4F did not have any ammo for it's guns in the next battle.

So I docked at port again and for some reason I can't get the carrier group to load 100% ammo. I try to ammo load. and it sais 20 mins to load. time goes by and it comes up as 0% for the fighter. dont matter If I select the whole group, the carrier, the air group or the single fighter.

I tried to select ammo type and load, I tried to de-commission the entire fleet and remake it, I tried every possible angle that I could think of to get guns loaded on the planes. Sometimes I get 27% load other times I get 53 % load. but not all planes, and not full load.

Is there enough ammo at the base? = Yes
Is there enough planes in the group = 100% Yes
Is there enough crew and personel = yes
Did I try to auto load by setting auto and leave the port & return = Yes.

Read the manual, read the forum FAQ's, did a few forum search's, did the tutorial - 100% completed all levels.

Um.. Im at a loss..

What am I missing?
Is this a bug?

This forum sure came in handy when loading the 1.3 patch and I was having that script off error.

Thanks for any help..

Just wait till you go into battle with torpedo bombers loaded with nothing.

I have similar issues. I can't figure a way around it either. It's even worse when you have an aircraft that has two different types of ammunition and you want it to load a 3rd (i.e. torpedoes, m torpedoes, then a torpedoes)

i do think this is a bug, what i found out that works is that you have to select the formation and when you bring up the context menu there is an option for 'select ammo' from here you have to actually select the ammo so that the description shows and click on 'appoint'. You'll see the rearming status and in the ammo for the unit/formation it should say 100%.

This is how i got my formations to rearm completely. This works with aircraft, since you can only select ammo for them. Ship on the other hand is a hit or miss with ammo load option, i just load ammo and torps manually.

yeah I've done that too. I do a select ammo a good 3-5 times. But I do still get torpedo-less torpedo bombers and bomb-less dive bombers.

Good to know I'm not the only one with this bug Very Happy

And the problem seems cumulative. After trying for another 1.5 hours t0 load fighters with bullets for it's guns it seems to have made it worse.

I tried the select / appoint options both while in port and at sea.

First selecting only the extra fuel option and it came back with a 20% ammo load for the guns. I then tried Depth charges and it loaded those but only 42% gun ammo. I then tried to load the Extra tank only again and this time it foobared the load to 0% ammo for the guns. But the tanks were there.. Confused

So I can fly farther, but when I get there the planes are little more than free targets for the enemy fighters.

I also noticed that you can't directly load ammo on the planes like you can for ships. I think this option would solve the problem for micro managers like myself. [ select an air group, load ammo / torps / bombs etc ]

I would think that part of the problem is that the bombs are classed as " Ammo " instead of specific load like the torpedoes.

So now that this... um... bug has been identified. Can a developer confirm the issue and advise us if it is being looked at by the team for a future patch? Is there a walkaround or mod that has been entertained to fix the issue?

This item of contention is a spoiler for an otherwise awsome game concept. I would sure like to play Pasific Storm as the visionary whom came up with the idea intended for it to be played.

It's not quite there yet.

Confused

turn a negative into a positive. You now have an incredibly long-range cruise missile.

In all seriousness, this is one of several gameplay bugs that needs to get ironed out. It's probably fixed for the add-on but... I don't see a point in paying extra money to fix something that should never have been broken in the first place...

I don't have that bug.

make sure CARRIERS have extra ammo loaded for the planes. When I first started playing it was one thing I had forgot to add which meant no ammo, some planes not armed/partially armed or no ability to land and reload in combat . This applies to missiles, rockets and special bombs also. You must have extra loaded onto the carriers. Common sense Wink

when reloading or changing off ammo's don't use the reload option from the division selection of the tree in base, go to the group selection e.g. sub group menu and select each plane group seperately, hit reload, and then they will fully reload if required ammunitions are available. same applies to ships. Also remember for planes the weight restrictions which is not a bug

Tried all of that KiloAlpha4.

Unfortunatly same result. However your post did bring up one point that I may have overlooked.

"weight restrictions "

In the above case I mentioned, it occured for the SDB and F4F " modified " with the latest tech. 12mm armor, self sealing tanks, etc.. surely this all added weight to the basic design. This may be the root of the perceived problem.

So I have yet to make and try newer planes with increased weight limits such as the F6F. Or better still I intend to make a few original unmodified versions of the F4F and see if this solves the problem, or at least confirm that there is a trade off between upgrades and reduced armament alotment.

Ill inform once I had a chance to test this and review more closely the plane specs before and after versions of the F4F.

Keeping in mind that my Ver of PS is vanila with 1.3.. No mods for me.. yet Smile

Took a look and both the F4F and SBD. They only come with the 1200 hp engines.

I did take notice at the diference between the F4F standard, and my modified F4F-1 which included, larger guns, sealed tanks, 12mm plate, etc.

The standard allowable cargo or "usable" load was 853 lbs on the standard F4F. with the modified F4F-1, I lost -280 lbs of usable space for only 573lbs of usable space. If you add the Pilot + drop tanks with or without depth charges or missles, it leaves little alotment for the gun ammo...

At least that is how I have interpreted the source of why I can't get 100% gun ammo. I tried this with other planes the P-39 & SBD, and came up with similar results.

Not knowing the wieght of ammo, or how much an F4F gun load of ammo it can carry. I am unable to make the final calculation for accuracy.

I have yet to build an F6F or F4U to see the difference with those. Or if the upgrades will affect those planes useful loads. But I suspect the problem should not be as great as with he F6F. Simply because the useful load for the F6F is far higher than that of the F4F..

This making any sense? Surprised

Or is it just a bug. LOL Laughing

In either case I'm dealing with it via a self imposed reinforced fictional story line. Very Happy

*The flight takes off from the carrier at 6:35 AM for the planned strike mission*

*As the fighter group approaches the wayward island, the Commander prepares to give his final attack orders*

" Alright men, this is the moment we have trained for. The enemy wing will come up soon so lets do the test firing of the guns and head 265 for the enemy airfield. "

" SIR!!! my guns are jammed!!! they wont fire "
" Mine too!!! "
"same here SIR!!!"

"Damn those factory boys. I told them they were rushing production too much. Alright men.. were not much good here.. lets head back to the barn before were spotted"

"Oh NO!!!! here they come Sir!!! "

"Shite!! we cant outrun em in these crates"

"It's been an honor flying with you men.. lets see if we can ram some of those Fighters"

"I'll be damned if im going out this way"

"If I go.. I'm taking them with me"

"Every man for himself"

" Im with you Sir.. Good Luck "

it is not ze bug but a logical part of the game Wink

take a base plane with full ammo, note the weight, then take the same base plane with no ammo note the weight and subtract= how much full ammo load weighs for that plane ( This can be simply done in the squad info screen by making a formation of 1 plane at the base ). Note that with ze best engines researched and available you don't have to worry about weight restrictions as each better engine increases the weight load capacity for the planes.

I dont know this bug is starting to surface with me and yes I believe its a bug. My P40's are standard, show 0 ammo, I supply them ammo and they go red for rearm phase, after a bit they are back again with 0 ammo.

Started noticing this also on my escort ships for my transports, all are showing low ammo and not restocking. Havent went thru my entire formations yet to see if anything else is having this problem, but I dont think its due to just weight or planes as its rearing its head with my ships too.

Hmmm. Sad

Tonights results were somewhat worse than before. Surprised

The loadout showed 500lbs bombs loaded on the dive bombers.. but when they got to the target, there was no bombs attached.. Surprised

Somewhere down the line the AI loses track of the loadouts, or miscalculates it in some way. Theres a leak in the inventory I think.

Ill have to keep an eye on this development and see how bad it goes. Confused

would only happen to me if I didn't have any ammo in the base stores to supply them with once they were built.

The amount of ammo and fuel, that can be loaded to a single unit depend on its maximum weight limit. Imroved armament, engines and equipment may cause overload or lower take-off wheight. If so, figures will be different from 100%.

Aircraft carriers are limited with torpedos for their aircraftys. If no more torpedoes availible, planes will take-off withot them.

Ok last night I found 1 solution that works.

I tried 3 times to supply ammo to my fighter regiment again and they stayed at 0 ammo. Then I went into the loadout screen and as soon as selected a loadout and hit appoint it went to 100%.

Now my air transports still show 0 and I can LOAD ammo and get it over 100% but not thru supply load.

I think the problems with ships may have been torpedo loads at the base which was lacking.

I have noticed when doing an ammo load, some go into red text and rearm , while others do same but also post a load msg in my warehouse screen.

so what is the solution on this....i have a war started v1.3 and launch aircraft and they attack full load and bombs sink stuff then return to reload and never fully rearm stuck at like 37% or so....fuel at 100.%....but i launch them and they are armed and drop bombs not sure as far as bullets go but the guns shoot .

All my new units don't have ammo. I have to supply ships by load ammo button. Planes are more difficult. I wait 20 min until they are ready to start. Then I order them to leave base. When they come back, they load ammo correctly. Then I can send them anywhere or decommission and remake them. They still have 100 % of ammo.
But if I try to change load of bombs or tanks first (with 0 ammo) or send them into battle, I can't load ammo later.

Eureka! I think I figured it out.

1)TO FULLY ARM PLANES
first go under select ammo and manually appoint everything; then when you go to the big map let some time pass and all your aircraft should be fully loaded. (providing ammo is available at the warehouse)

2)TO FULLY ARM SHIPS
to load ships (also appoint all ammo manually first) use the 'supply ammo' from the warehouse tab and then go to the big map and let some time pass; your ships should all now be properly loaded.(again providing there is adequate ammo in the warehouse)

only took 10 hours of messing around to figure it out Smile

great game concept too bad it's been discontinued, maybe they could make a better 'pacific storm 2'?
