Game Sound Corruption/Problem....possible fix.

Postby KiloAlpha4 » Sat Mar 01, 2008 7:14 am

Here is a sound fix I found...2 ways to do it.

1) don't worry about sound card acceleration, that isn't the problem as originally thought, I found this from testing.

2) go to your pacific storm config folder-Pacific Storm Allies\config

3) open mediacfg.xml ( send to wordpad or notepad )

4) go to edit/find and copy paste the following:

5) you will see both of these and the sound problem can be resolved either way, it's up to you. I will explain the dif's:

a) this feature was added to allies and in here lies the problem with the corrupt sound. If you set this value to false you will have same sound setup as in the first game minus the sound problems.

b) changing this value to true will also have the exact same desired effect, fixing the sound problem. Those with onboard sound will want to try enabling software buffers if they are experiencing issues and if they are not already.

c) changing this to 1500 or even lower like 600 also helps.

Once choosing either or both, or which one works best for you, go to the top and select file/save. If using notepad remember to save as Unicode not the default ANSI under the encoding options at the bottom.

....problem solved.

I tested this with tons of units which normally would cause me to lose most sound and works like a charm ;)

just some testing pics from test battles:

try this one let me know how it works http://www.savefile.com/files/1427196 from the NA version. If it works then try the fix I posted in thread start. I'm using a sb live 5.1 card. You could also try dumping down your sound buffer count from 32 to 24 etc.

not 100% yet, it's caused by the addition of a new modified codec to the Allies game...why they did it I have no clue...as the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it lol. It's something that has to be worked on further...it's on the "to do" list...

P.S:Sorry or bad english.

hey no problem ;)
